Cozy cats and more Celebrations

Hello from Winston.  It's early on Monday morning so I thought I would start my day with something nice like saying hello to all of you.  I'm tuckered out, though, because Mom spent more time celebrating this weekend.  For somebody who got a year older she certainly is taking it well!
First off---

here is a spring bouquet of flowers for you.  Mom especially enjoyed the pussy willows!

Like I said earlier the Mom did a bit more celebrating this weekend.  But before the fun stuff...the everyday errands!   We had some very snowy weather on Saturday!   Mom ducked into an alleyway hoping it would be a short cut.   She had gone to the health food store to find some tea, among other things. Mom enjoys her new cell phone camera (new to her-the phone used to belong to her sister).  However, she still has some challenges figuring out the technical stuff.  Sometimes, without her quite knowing how it happened, the camera switches to "selfie-mode"!   She doesn't like it.  However, I'm sharing one of her unintentional selfies here....

Tee hee!   Her shoulder, scarf and hair.   It was very snowy!!  The weather people say that a snow storm is supposed to start rolling in today!

Cozy purrs now from Emily!   Yes, we are expecting a lot of snow!  I know Mom is secretly hoping for  a snow day!   Dream on, Mom!  Anyway, I get to tell you a bit more about Mom's other celebrations.  She met with a bigger group of people on Saturday evening and went to an Italian restaurant!  Mom was so excited that she hadn't had any lunch that day so she was a tiny bit hungry!
Her friend's husband ordered an espresso!   Mom likes coffee but she knows she shouldn't drink it!  She needs to sleep .     Doesn't it look pretty, though? 

 She had a refreshing cup of peppermint tea and white cheesecake!  She said the cheesecake was delicious!

 Mom said upon reflection later that day she has realized how blessed she was to have so many kind people in her life.   She was thankful for all of the wishes, special meals at restaurants and thoughtful gifts.   She received tea, homemade goodies, some pretty teacups, a beautiful journal...to name just a few.  Mom has some very kind friends and family!  (and us felines...don't forget us)

Presents and Sofa Wars

 Hello from Emily.  I hope everyone is staying warm!  After almost two weeks of mild weather we are back in the deep freeze.    Brrr!  I've discovered that the back of the sofa, close to where Mom sits, is very comfy!  Sometimes I allow Winston to sit here but, for the most part, I've taken it over.

 The Mom person took this photo on her trek to work.   She said that, though you can't see it, there were tiny snowflakes drifting down from the pewter colored sky!  Chilly but pretty.
Guess what?!  I had to go to the vet again for another grooming session.   We had to wait awhile as the vet was delayed by an emergency!   However, I made sure it was worth everyone's time.  Look at all my fur!  Mom was aghast.  I am a bit more calm with the brush but I still wouldn't let them trim my beautiful claws! Ha.   I'm not just a fluff...I'm fierce.

 I think it's a bit sad, though, that Mom won't be able to vacuum up all this fur from the carpet or sofa.  Don't worry, it's shedding season.  I'll do what I can to make sure she isn't too bored.

 Mom thought she was being funny when she put her cat sock on me.  Hmpfh.....I'm a bit cross in this photo because Mom quickly took out all the warm, clean laundry.  She just left an old towel in there for me to snuggle up on. 
Well, I guess I'll let Winston talk now.

 Mom's family came a bit early to help her celebrate her b-day.   Here I am, Winston, the mighty warrior cat, guarding Mom's present.  Do you see that green bow?  Well there was a butterfly on top of it!   I apologize for the fuzzy photo quality.   It was dark in the dining area and Mom doesn't like using the camera flash inside.  Anyway......here is what Mom got.   A really fancy tea kettle!

 This is photo of me with our newest toy! Mom thought we should get a present too!   It's a dragon fly on a pink string.   We like to whap it with our paws! 

 Here I am enjoying the new bed.   Did I mention that Emily has practically stolen my favorite spot on the back of the sofa.  She is a tiny, furry sofa thief!

Mom said the sofa is big enough for everyone!   Blah blah blah...boring stuff about sharing!  It is a very comfy sofa.   Perfect for Mom to relax, read, watch tv!   Maybe I could try to share the back of the sofa with Emily.  I'll think about it!

Wild kitties and chocolate!

Hello from Emily.   I hope everyone is had a relaxing weekend.  Perhaps you may recall that last week I had a great deal of fun climbing onto the top of an extra mattress!

 I am a mighty huntress.  See how I stalk my Mom/prey from atop my perch which towers over my kingdom!

 Sometimes even mighty jungle kitties have to rest--right!  Well, my fun is now gone.   The old mattress is no more.  

The new bed is OK ...it's comfy.   I do miss  being able to tower over Mom and terrify her at night by jumping down on the bed with a mighty thud!   *sigh*

So, the Mom had a fun weekend!  She went with some friends out for breakfast and then a bit of shopping.   Of course they went to a bookstore.  However, they also went to a Lindt chocolate outlet store!

The Lindt valentine candy was also on sale.   Mom tried very hard to be good.  She just brought home 6 wrapped Lindt chocolates.  They were all flavors she had never heard of before like coffee, coconut and citrus!

 Hi now from Winston.   See how I guard Mom's present.   She is becoming another year older later this week.   Her family came early to help her deal with this by giving her gifts!  One of her presents was a new tea kettle !
Hooray!
Then, more shopping:

 Mom said she really wanted to buy this tin of shortbread for the kitties in kilts!  But she couldn't justify it because: (1) she already has two wild kitties and (2) the chocolates from the Lindt store were still in her cupboard!

 She fell in love with that large yellow mixing bowl.   It reminds her of her Nana's kitchen.   Her Nana had a wood stove and would sometimes make chicken and dumplings and homemade bread.   Mom said that homemade bread with melting butter is one of her favorite memories.  Honestly, kitties, humans are complicated all those memories from one yellow bowl!

 Mom was also quite twiterpated with this silly Easter bunny pillow!   I'm almost embarrassed on Mom's behalf!   However, I did approve of this fierce dragon puppet she saw at a toy store!

A Hint of Spring...and other things!

 Hello from Winston.  First, I want to wish everyone a Happy Family Day.  Here in Canada many people get the day off.  Our Mom was one of the people who did get the day off.  She was very happy to have a long weekend. It's like a mini vacation in the middle of winter.

 Typically, we have lots of snow.  This is on one of the routes Mom takes when she walks to get her groceries.   Brrrr!!!  I'm glad that I'm a cat and can cuddle on chairs and not have to trek over snow, ice and railroad tracks.

 This is the snowy view from one of our big windows.   Nippy weather for sure! I'm heading back to the chair!

 Mom is just adding this photo of a fancy hot chocolate because she likes chocolate.   She says it was especially good because of the whipped cream and and dark chocolate shavings.   Hot chocolate is a consolation prize for the bitter winds and snow during this season!
However, for the past few days we have been getting this kind of weather:

 Blue skies with lots of sunshine.  Our snow is almost gone!

 Hello from Emily!  My big news is that Mom got a new mattress!  Until she figures out what to do with her old mattress She has decided to lean it against the bedroom wall which is behind headboard.   I find that it's wonderful to climb up here and peer down at all the peasants below.   Mom says it makes her nervous having a furry little gargoyle watching her.   I have to say...you would think with my "demon glow" eyes that Mom would be a bit more careful how she phrases things!  However, Mom does do a few things right such as....Straws!

 Mom found some wonderful paper straws with pink and white stripes.  She will take one out of storage and let it whap it around the floor for a while.  They are great fun.

 Mom likes to take photos of flowers in stores.   She especially enjoyed the soft color of this rose!  She doesn't often purchase flowers...
We hope that you and your humans have a great week.   Goodness only knows how much longer this early "spring-like" weather will last!

Happy Chocolate Day!

 Hello from Winston!   Our Mom is excited because in a few days, February 15th,  the Valentine Day chocolates will go on sale!
Meanwhile, Emily and I were happy that Mom decided to do some laundry!  There is nothing we enjoy more than getting our fur all over her freshly laundered, warm clothes!
In our area we have been getting some interesting winter weather.

 We got freezing rain one day.  Mom wore her boot grips.  These ladies, though, just avoided the sidealk.

 Mom says she would rather walk through a snow storm than freezing rain.  She did concede, though, that freezing rain can look pretty!
After the freezing rain we got snow!

 This is on one of Mom's walks to an appointment. 
We convinced Mom that to keep our spirits up she should keep out the Christmas light!  Don't you think they provide a nice, soft glow.  

 Turning on the twinkle lights is one of the first things she does when she gets home from work.

 Purrs from Emily!  It's my turn to cuddle in the laundry basket.  It's so cozy in here.  Only, I don't like that Mom keeps annoying me with the flash camera.

 Mom had to pick up some of her kitty food from the vet.  This is Bogart.  He lives at the vet's office.  Mom says he is a scalawag.  However, we think she likes his silliness.  

 Mom went with a friend to go shopping on Friday.  She found something called Woolzies.  These are lamb's wool dryer balls.   It's supposed to help with static cling.  Mom won't use dryer sheets because of the chemicals.  She can hardly wait to test these out!  They have received good reviews online.  After the shopping they stopped at a cafe for tea AND  a cookie.

 Another wintery view from inside.  Mom's weekend was very busy.  Between work, shopping etc.  She also got a new bed and mattress.  She also inherited her sister's old cell phone.  (her sister got a new phone for Christmas)  Mom says that days off can be tiring.

A Small Hi from Emily

 Miss Emily here.   I made the Mom person very happy.  I purred...loudly while she brushed me and gave me treats!   Mom didn't know what the sound was at first....and  then she realized I was purring!
I hardly ever purr so it took her by surprise.

 Yep!   We have healing powers!

Mom says purrs make her heart happy!
That makes me happy too!
