News --updated july 5th

Update July 5
Lucy is at home now.   We are hoping that we might have a bit more time with her if she will eat.   The vet said if she doesn't eat that is Lucy's way of letting me know....
Lucy was quite distant and quiet at first last night.  I think she may have even caught onto some of my mood...which was pretty low...so I faked cheery and started brushing her and talking to her.  She did eventually perk up.  She even ate 3 small forkfuls of food.  She drank water.  Lucy started to purr again.  I was up until after one just so I could spend time with her.  Feeling tired   She has only had about 5 treats today.  Not drinking, not really eating but purring and head butting.
Right now, I just want more time with her.
Thanks for your thoughts, prayers, and purrs.

The vet just called.  The news is not good.  One of the possibilities was a tumor which they  could treat.  It is a tumor but not lymphoma like they though, it is carcinoma, and they can't do anything.  They were able to get some of the fluid out of her chest and she ate a bit.   I think the vet said I could take her home and just follow Lucy's lead but I'm not sure because I was upset by this time and not able to take any notes.  It hurts.

  1. I'm so sorry. Oh, I'm so deeply sorry. Obviously this isn't the news we all were hoping for.

Sending lots of hugs and keeping you both in my thoughts and prayers. Nicki and Derry are sending soft purrs.

Blessings and Peace and Mercy to you both.

  2. One who went before me was mommy's first cat up here. After thirteen years with her soul mate, Suki got cancer. She stuck around for as long as she could (I think she just wanted to be with mommy as long as she could) but when she was really feeling badly and miserable, mommy had her put to sleep. She cried all the way home from the pet hospital. And when she received Suki's ashes she cried all the way home. It NEVER gets easier. Mommy will pray for a miracle to happen, and we both send lots and lots of understanding and (((hugs))) and I'll send my very softest head bumpies.

  11. I echo all the posts above. I will pray for your wisdom and peace and a miracle of healing. Commitment to an animal brings with it all shades of human emotion requiring uncommon courage but ultimately the joy of having loved.

  14. Love is eternal; the more you give Lucy now, the better for both of you. Try to tempt her with anything so she'll eat: baby food, sardines, whatever. God Bless.

  16. Lucy was very lucky to have been loved by you, Maggie. I'm sure a day doesn't go by without you missing her purrs and cuddles. Anyway, I'm sure Lucy knew how much you loved and cared for her, and she must've been very happy for that. Thanks for sharing that, Maggie! All the best to you. :)
