Kitty Guardians

Psstt....Lucy, did you hear?  Mom had to get something called a "root canal" yesterday after work.
I know her tooth abscessed and she was kind of annoyed about it.  Hmmm...maybe if I ask for more cuddle time that will help.
No, Lucy, I don't think cuddle time alone will help.  She needs to know she is still needed.  What if I meow extra long for her to turn on the bathroom water tap for me.  Then she will know she is needed!  Yeah, I think that is a great idea.  Plus, I get to sing for her.  That's got to be a special treat for her.
Silly Oscar and Lucy.  I think if I show her that I am clever and brave.  I know.  I will jump onto the top shelf of the closet.  She thinks I can't get there.   Ha! I'll show her.  Won't she be happy to know I'm so clever and brave.  Yes, that's the ticket.  That will help her out.

Cold days and cozy moments

It has been a very blustery winter so far.   As I walked home from work on Friday, the wind was so strong it kept blowing off my jacket hood.  The hood has snaps on it and a scarf to help keep it down but it was all to no avail.  This is the sort of weather that makes me want to cook -- so out comes the crock pot and veggies.
The recipe assured me the soup would be more flavorful if I sauteed the vegetables first.  All right then, in they all go into the pan along with some minced garlic.  Yum.  I love how my apartment smells when something is quietly bubbling in the crock pot.
Here is the finished product--crock pot veggie soup.  It is quite yummy and perfect for these cold, blustery winter days.
I couldn't resist picking a few roses up from the farmer's market whilst I purchased the veggies.  Did I need them?  No, but oh, it's so lovely to see the soft colors and breathe in their quiet scent......
The kitty brats have been keeping busy as well.  Winston likes to "help" with the laundry.  His efforts are always appreciated.   *ahem*
Lucy enjoys escaping into the hallway.  Here she poses in a relaxed, yet regal, feline supine pose.  Then I had to scoop her up before the big, chocolate lab down the hall decided to come gallumping out!

Stormy January Days

Today Mum walked to the grocery store.   Oscar kitty and I are just keeping watch out of the big window.  It was stormy and cold!   We may have been concerned.  This human brings us food, treat and catnip toys!
It's not a long walk to the grocery store-say 15-20 minutes-but the sidewalks can be a challenge and the wind was strong.  Mum said she saw a tiny snownado!  She didn't get a picture of that, though.
I kept her favorite "afghan" throw warm and cozy.  She wanted to cuddle down when she got home.
She put on her favorite DVD.....

Fun and foggy Saturday

Tired Lucy and Winston
Hi peoples, Lucy here today to tell you about Mom's Saturday!

Foggy
After a week of record breaking cold and blizzard warnings, Saturday was very mild with lots of fog!

Pink snowflake mittens
Mom's company came early and they went out for breakfast and then shopping!  These soft gray mittens with pink snowflakes made Mommy squee in delight.  (She really needs to get out a bit more)  She said mittens were warmer than gloves and she didn't want numb fingers anymore if it was going to be so cold.  Therefore, even though the mitts were NOT on her list, she decided to buy them.

Tea cup
After several hours of shopping it was back to the apartment.  Mom made up some spice tea with cinnamon loaf.  I hear that it was delicious though I was not even offered one slice   *sigh*  I made my Mom's mom feel welcome by always wanting to cuddle with her.  I think she loves me best~

Our Mum is going to work today and we felines are concerned. There are blizzard warnings/snow squall warnings and temperatures of -40. Brrr..... It will be a chilly walk.
Winston tried to help keep her warm by sleeping on her toes. She loves that. Meanwhile, she left us plenty of food and water. We are gonna send her warm thoughts and purrs...... Cuddle your felines, peoples. Stay warm!

Snoopervisors

We are pleased to report that, under our strict snoopervision, the heat in the laundry room is back on. The washing machines are now working, too!   Also, the water in our kitchen is flowing, and flowing clear, not black!
If you want something done right, leave it to the felines. Oscar couldn't leave his snooperivising  to pose for this intimidating photo shoot!
Stay warm, peoples. We hear yet another storm is h
eading our way.

Listen to your Felines!

Pensive Lucy
Mommy took me to the vet on New Year's Day to get weighed again.  The vet was pleased to see that I went up .2 pounds.  My last visit I had gone down just a bit-though the vet wasn't worried about that.  She said it's normal for weight to fluctuate a bit.  Mom said her heart felt a bit lighter.
Oscar takes charge
It's my turn now, Lucy.  It's been very cold here the past couple of days.  This has led to a few interesting situations of which I do NOT approve.  However, I try to make Mom's life easy and give her cuddles and purrs to help her out.

Intimidating Winston!

The heat in our building's laundry room hasn't been working all winter.  Since it has been so cold--about -30 C-- it froze the pipes in there.   Mommy can't do laundry and since our apartment is right above the laundry room it's affected our kitchen water, too.  The super doesn't want to call anyone since it's the weekend and they charge too much.  I say if you let us kitties take control  we will put everything to rights again!   Roarrrr....
In the meantime, stay warm and listen to your felines. Have a good weekend, frail, feeble peoples and fellow felines.
