Feline Drama and Morning Walks

Hello Felines.  It is Miss Emily.   Mom says I look a bit sad and stunned in this photo.   I say there is a very good reason for that!  I will briefly explain.  We have a cat scratcher/kitty lounger.  It belongs to me!  I laid claim to it and am often found relaxing there.
Until a few days ago....
Winston kitty demanded that I abdicate my rightful place.   That bossy boy!  He swatted at me.  I swatted back.   He must have got in a lucky smack because....
He got my nice warm spot.   That beast!
Anyway, Mom spent a lot of last week in the park.  Well, she spent a couple of hours there early in the morning.
It is finally starting to look like fall.  This was Mom's favorite morning.  The sun was starting to shine through the mist.
An overcast morning.   The Canadian geese flying overhead.
Mom used her cell phone for this one.  She loved the way the raindrops sparkled on the grass.

Winston's Presents and Fun Stuff

(Please click on the photos to enlarge !)
Greetings all!  It's Winston.  First I would like to wish all of the Canadian readers a "Happy Thanksgiving"!   It is tomorrow.
Next...guess what!?  Mom finally got my birthday gifts. (More than a month late!)   Here I am standing next to my favorite treats in the word: Temptations Seafood Flavour.
Apparently, it is also Emily's favorite treat. The nerve of her!
I also got a catnip toy.   Can you see Emily?   I just know she wants to play with my new toy, too!
What do you say felines?  Should I share?
Mom has been off on her staycation.   She really appreciates having slow mornings where she writes in her journal.   This beautiful journal was a gift from Mom's sister.  Mom is also excited to be using her autumn plates.  There are tiny birds on an autumn branch.
(That is a slice of pumpkin bread and a mug of tea--how boring!)
She also felt like she could color a wee bit.   Mom says it is relaxing.  Except when Emily thinks the pencil crayons are toys that need to be smacked off the table and hidden!
Mom also went on a day trip to a lovely place called Winter Wheat in Sparta, Ontario.   There is a very creative artist at work here!  Mom liked this "jazz cat"
A garden lady surrounded by teapots and teacups.
 A lampshade garden angel!
Beautiful, jewel-toned candle hangers swaying on the porch.
Kitties, lots more stuff is going on.   However, we need to be brief, at least for now.  Do you see this lovely figurine?  It's a Willow Tree Angel.  Our Mom has several.  Well, guess what, Mom got all misty when she received this one.  (The image is taken from the Willow Tree Angel site)
It's called Surrounded by Love.  Her niece bought it for our Mom and gave it to her on Saturday when Mom's sister and niece came for a visit.  Mom said it made the hard bits in her heart feel a bit softer.  She wanted to cry, happy tears, but knew her niece would probably make fun of her!!
We will close for now.
This last photo...it's the light shining through the trees at Winter Wheat.

Autumn Staycation

It's Day 3 of my staycation.  So far I've been "productive"!  Lots of chores and errands run.  It always seems to take a while before I can settle in and relax.   Mr. Winston kitty is in the above photo. He looks rather grumpy  :)   He and Emily are fighting over the cat scratcher/cat bed.    It is surprising to me how Emily seems to "win" back her spot!
This past week autumn was halted by record-breaking temperatures.   If the humidex was factored in,  the temperatures reached almost 40C (104 F).  On Friday my area had some severe thunderstorms, including hail and high winds, and the temperatures went back to more seasonal levels.
On Saturday I had a visit with Mom.  She loves Winston and Emily.  Mom confessed to me that sometimes she dances with her cat, Pearl.   She assures me that Pearl loves dancing.  Pearl loves to be cuddled.
"What music do you dance to?"  I queried.
"Darling by Johnny Reid.   I love that song!  I cranked it up and we danced!"  Mom replied.
I have a feeling she isn't the only one.

A small tree in full autumn glow.   I would say about 15-20% of the trees are showing their colors.
Halloween kitty chocolates.   These kitties do not look scary at all.
I've been continuing to search for a birthday gift for Winston.  I saw these monster sized mice at a Pet Value!
This is a small park close to where I live.  I'm looking forward to being able to take walks just for the fun of it!
 Emily says hello!
She is such a cutie.   She loves to run and greet me now in the morning when I wake up.
Another photo from Pet Value!   I liked the sign!  As if I needed reminding to spoil them.
Pumpkins at the grocery store.  One of the things on my hopeful list of staycation ideas is to visit a pumpkin field.  I'm looking for the tiny little pumpkins.  There isn't a lot of room in my apartment for the regular sized ones.
When Mom was down on Saturday we window shopped and went for a walk in the park.   We also had a seasonal snack of pumpkin muffins, tea, and clementines.
There are more visits, errands, and organizing chores to follow in the next while.  I'm also hoping to get some autumn clothes shopping done.  Oh...and Christmas shopping too!

Staying Cool and Staycations

Hello kitties!   While it is officially autumn we are now having summer weather.  Our Mom isn't very happy about it.  I have to say that neither are we!   This is an older photo of me trying to stay cool in front of a fan.  What about you?  Do you felines like hot weather?

Mom's uncle passed away suddenly earlier this week.  It was a bit of a shock.   We are sending Auntie A. our gentlest and softest purrs on the loss of her husband.
Life can go by quickly so take time to stop and appreciate the small things.  The sun setting from our living room window.  Mom says there is something about sunbeams that cheer her soul.
This quote is from Pinterest.  Our Mom sometimes gets insomnia.  Emily and I have no concept of this particular malady.  Imagine not having a cat nap!  Humans!  We just don't always understand them!
Purrs from Miss Emily.  Mom's staycation starts very soon.  She is already writing up lists of things to do.   Besides visiting a pumpkin patch she hopes to go to the park and take photos!  Maybe get one of those fancy seasonal autumn warm beverages-a London Fog, a pumpkin spice latte.

Here is another tattoo our Mom likes....Honestly, kitties, I don't think she will go through with the tattoo idea.   She is much too practical to spend money (that she could be spending on us!) on something like that!   Yet still, she likes this one.  Tiny birds.   We kind of like that, too!
Mom likes to collect funny quotes on Pinterest.  This one made her laugh out loud!

Summer Again!

Purrs to all from Winston.  We hope everyone is having a good week.   Autumn officially arrives this week; however, the temperatures here have been decidedly tropical.  Mom is so looking forward to cooler, crisp temperatures.
Mom has been telling people (and sometimes only when there is us felines) that her vacation starts next week.  Emily and I will have to put up with her for 16 entire days.
I think we should start taking more naps to gear up for this.
She has already started a Pinterest board for staycation ideas.

I mentioned that is (and will continue to be) summery for the next while.  Mom hauled out her iced tea recipe again.  Thank goodness that there are some lovely breezes to go along with the sticky, late summer weather.
Mom had another busy weekend.  She had to pick up produce for salads.   Mom says she wants to find a nice crockpot recipe for a vegetable soup to try out on her time off.

Hi, all.  It's Miss Emily.   I am tuckered out just thinking about Mom's upcoming staycation. Why, just this morning, I was following Mom all over the apartment.  Meowing.  Giving her gentle head bops.  I could tell Mom enjoyed the extra attention.  It took a lot of energy out of me, though.
One of the things Mom hopes to do on her staycation is visit a pumpkin patch.  It's been almost ten years since last she went to one.  She never buys the big pumpkins, just the tiny ones.
Mom also hopes to out to take some photos.  This is some raindrops sparkling on leaves.   It was apparently dark enough for the flash to go off.  Mom thought the raindrops looked extra pretty.

Whispers of Autumn

Hello.  It's Winston and Emily and we are going to interrupt our game of smacky  paws to tell you what we have been up to!
Mom had a productive weekend.   Lots of chores, errands, and tidying.  On her walk to get groceries she saw this funny sign outside a bakery.   She said it made her smile.   (Mum didn't get anything from them, though)
Emily and wondered if you noticed any signs of autumn?   The leaves are falling from the trees.
The berries and the maple keys are heavy on the branches.
Hi! It's me, Winston....are you dreading autumn.  Relax.  Enjoy this photo of me being fierce on top of the dresser!
Can you make out this blue heron?  It was far off...Mom had to use a zoom lens.  Mom thought it looked like he was glaring at her.  SCARIFYING!  Not for us felines, though.
Purrs from Miss Emily. I do enjoy a nice sip of water from the bathroom faucet.   We have also noticed that the nights are becoming cooler.   BRRRR.....Mom is going to want us to start sleeping on her toes to keep them warm.
