Innocent face

I can never seem to scold Winston properly if he looks up at me with those big, blue eyes.
Doesn't matter how naughty he has been and trust me he is a brat of gargantuan proportions at times!
On to something completely different now, though, I have a friend with a very soft heart. She lives in the country with a dog and two cats. She also 'takes' care of a stray kitty. This kitty is not an indoor pet but she does feed him and lets him sleep in her front porch. This in spite of the fact that her hubby is none too pleased about it. My friend recently discovered that this kitty has diabetes. My question is: Is there any way to manage this condition naturally through just food? If you do have any helpful suggestions, I will pass it on to her.
Anyway, I'm off to hit the hay early as I seem to have the makings of a spring cold!
I think a bit of kitty cuddly might help, too. =)

  1. I doubt I could do much better in the discipline dept. with those eyes. I do have a grand-kitty with diabetes and unfortunately he is on insulin now. I'm wondering how she found out the out-door cat has this? It usually takes a blood/urine test to be sure. Some cats are managed by diet only but it has to be very slight. I think she will have to turn this cat into an indoor/outdoor cat so she can deal with it properly.

  2. My friend took outdoor kitty in to the vet when she noticed certain symptoms. The vet confirmed the diabetes diagnosis. Thanks for your reply. =)

  3. Just read your above comment and I am glad that she was able to take the cat to the vet. That is the only way she would know the proper way to care for the cat. I don't believe it can be managed by food alone but I am sure others know more about this than I do.
I wouldn't be able to resist those gorgeous blue eyes either!

  5. As everyone else has said, diabetes can,in some cases, by managed by food only. Not the case with our girl who has injections twice daily.

    1. Thank you. I'm going to guess the vet would suggest that, though, at the time of diagnosis. Twice a day! Wow.

  7. As others already told you it depends on the kind of diabetes this kitty has. Many can be managed with special food only, while other require injections. Either way, it is something manageable. How can you resist Winston?

  8. Winston has such a sweet and beautiful face! :)

With regard to treatments ... it does depend upon the type of diabetes, but having the kitty checked by the vet was the most important step. Purrs and prayers!
