Miss Emily for a quick visit. Remember this photo of me cuddling with "Grandma". I decided to let her cuddle me because she has had such a difficult year with her hubby passing away in March and her woofie passing away in May. I think my cuddle must have convinced her that felines can be sweet and loving too because she got a feline of her own. Please meet Pearl!
The only thing is Pearl does seem to be under the weather. She has sometimes has sneezing fits and her eye is a bit watery. There has been an outbreak of feline colds at the shelter where Pearl lived. Pearl did eat her breakfast this morning but isn't as hungry now.
Mom was saying how happy she was that Grandma got a kitty to love. She was relieved to her her Mom sounding excited about having someone to take care of and keep her company. But now Grandma is fretting that Pearl is sounding under the weather. It's the long weekend here in Canada so the vet can't see her again until Tuesday.
So-if you think of it-please send purrs, prayers or gentle advice and our Mom will pass it along to our Grandma.
We hope everyone has a great weekend!
Purrs,
Miss Emily
Pearl is lovely kitty. We are sending all our purrs that she will be feeling better furry soon.

Thank you Eileen for the visit and wishes =)
DeletePurrs.
Shelter environments are very rough, and colds are very common there. We're sure that with love and proper care, Miss Pearl will thrive in her new home.
ReplyDeleteHello Whiskeratti, We appreciate your visit. We will pass along your encouragement! Have a lovely weekend!
DeleteWelcome to Pearl! Our purrs to her too, we hope she's better soon. We used to get Lysine for kitty colds, but recent studies are showing it's not recommended. Your grandma can try heating up the food slightly (if it's wet) to tempt her to eat, but if she can't smell right now it'll be difficult. A pinch of FortiFlora (probiotic) could help with eating--most cats LOVE the smell/taste of it, but I don't think stores carry it. I get it online (or from the vet office). Your grandma might find something similar at PetValu or another pet food/supply store. If Pearl starts mouth-breathing (hope it doesn't get to that point), best to take her to the emerg vet, but taking her into the bathroom and running steam from the shower can help relieve the congestion. Pearl would have to be pretty bad to need that, though. Both Nicki and Derry got terribly sick with a bad bug a few years ago and I spent the better part of a month doing that with one, then the other. Didn't get much sleep!
ReplyDeleteGood luck! It's more likely that Pearl will be fine in a few days, but I understand the worry -- especially over a long weekend. Hugs.
Thank you Fuzzy Tales. All good ideas. I've actually called Mom and read her the responses of the other bloggers. Perhaps it sounds silly, but it made Mom feel better knowing that complete strangers cared about her new cat, Pearl, and were willing to take the time to write. Enjoy your long weekend.
DeleteEmily, you are a great ambassador for cats :)
ReplyDeleteWelcome Pearl! We are sure you will love your new home.
As long as she eats some, that is good.
Things should settle down soon as she adjusts to her new home.
Our JJ (19 years) sometimes has a bunch of trong sneezes in a row.
But he is OK :) We do send purrs for Pearl, just to help her :)
Purrs Georgia and Julie,
Treasure and JJ
Thanks for the Visit and the response. Good point about needing to adjust. For such a young cat she has been through a lot. We appreciate the purrs.
DeleteWe are glad your Grandma adopted Pearl. We hope they have many years of happiness together.
ReplyDeleteWe hope she just has a summer cold. Just make sure she is eating and drinking and she should be OK. Cats won't eat if they can't smell so Fuzzy Tales had some good advice. You can also try putting the food in their mouth I did that for my cat Whiskers many years ago.
Hi Alasandra,
DeleteThanks for dropping by to visit. I am so thankful Mom decided to adopt Pearl. After such a rough year and, understandably being quite depressed, I'm hoping this new fuzzy companion will help Mom to heal. Pearl is eating--mostly her wet food and treats and drinking from her new fountain. Take good care and thank you again.
We hope Pearl gets over her cold quickly and is purr-fectly fit to give grandma all the love she deserves very soon!!
ReplyDeletePurrs, Riley and Hannah

DeletePearl, you are a cutie and I love your name! Get better soon, sweetie!
ReplyDeleteHi Eastside Cats, I've been reading Mom (we live almost 2 hours apart) the responses over the phone. I could tell your reply made her smile. The name she gave her new feline is important to her. Thank you to for the feel better wishes.
