Hints of Autumn
Hello, The calendar says it is almost fall but the weather still feels very much like summer.
Emily went to the vet this morning for a grooming session. She had so many mats that I was astonished at the growing pile of fur on the exam table. Alas, the vet threw all of that beautiful fur out almost immediately. I had wanted to take a photo :) Emily feels much better and even has a bit of a "goth" edge with her new do.
There are signs of autumn all around: colorful leaves, misty mornings and crickets singing. The temperatures are still very summer like, though.
My October vacation is booked so I hope the trees start glowing up a little bit more.
Willow is doing OK. I recently bought her a box of straws. She loves to chase them around the apartment. I purchased paper straws because I thought it might be safer for her if she accidently ingested it while trying to decimate it. A box of 50 paper straws cost me $10. Yikes. Oh well, she is worth it.
Life in general has been hectic and a bit sad. At work, we are usually short staffed over summer so things are extra busy. Recently, someone I used to play with when I was a child passed away. We didn't keep in touch except for the occassional social media "hellos". I knew he was ill but he seemed to decline quickly.
I know that this is life but sometimes life is hard, yes?
Meanwhile, Emily has forgiven me for taking her to the vet for her grooming session this morning. She was much happier, too. I think she appreciates her "edgy" new look. Willow continues to delight me with her silly ways.
Take care and I will try to visit you all over the next week.

DeleteLife is extremely hard at times. Your kitties are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThank you for visiting :)
DeleteHugs and purrs as your mourn your old time friend.
ReplyDeleteEmily being glad that the mats are gone was worth it, no?
Willow and her straws; we can relate.
Thank you. Emily has mellowed out a tiny bit for her mat removal. It wasn't until the very end that I started to fear for the vet tech's fingers.
DeleteIt gets scary when people your own age pass. Willow and Emily are both beautiful. XO
ReplyDeleteYes, it is both scary and sad. Willow and Emily thank you for the compliment!
DeleteIt's not easy to lose a friend, even if it's not someone you stayed very close to.
ReplyDeleteI think most of our pets don't like the vet even when they do like the results after of better health, or better grooming.
True. Miss Emily really gives the vet a challenging time. However, she has mellowed out. I was happy with her. She behaved well even when she was scared/annoyed. Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteI bet underneath all the lovely floofy fur, Emily feels better without the extra furs and mats. She looks so lovely. And so does Willow. Straws, now that's a fun idea. I take my tea bag papers and wad them up and toss it in the early morns. Precious loves to slide over the small vinyl flooring area. Sad when we have family and friends pass away. Leaves a bit of a hole in our lives even if we did not share our actual living space with them. Enjoy Autumn. Here the drought is so bad the trees are browning and dropping leaves.
ReplyDeleteEmily did feel better. She forgave me once she was safely home. Emily kept giving me little head boops :) I drink tea and never thought to use tea bag papers as a toy!
DeleteIt's good to see you and know you're all okay. The straws ARE pricey, but of course worth it!
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry for your childhood friend's passing. It's so sad for family and friends and a reminder of our own mortality, how precarious and short our lives are here. ❤️
That said, I hope you make the very best of your upcoming time off! Sending you all hugs and Light. 💖🙏
Thank you. Yes, I felt empty, sad. I didn't have much contact in the last while other than the occasional social media "hellos" When I found out, I kept thinking off a photo I saw of him as a child and not as the grownup. I'm planning for the staycation and hope it is restful. I usually end up doing appointments and chores I don't normally have time to do. :) That part needs a bit of work. Enjoy your time off and thanks for visiting.
DeleteI had my first childhood friend pass at 38. That was hard to know and deal with. My girl Katie Isabella needs her flanks shaved . But all the way down as her mats there were very alleviated...but they got a haircut.
ReplyDeleteI have always wanted to tell you that the name of your blog never fails to send me wandering down a pleasant mental path about it...I love the title. I wonder at your choosing it.
Hello, Thanks for visiting. I'm sorry about your friend. I hope Katie Isabella's shave went well.
DeleteSo sorry for the loss of your friend.
ReplyDeleteThe furry ladies look beautiful!
