Mom spoke to the vet after Winston finished the antibiotic for his kidney infection. It turns out that he does have kidney disease. The vet says he is at stage 2. Mom has been giving Winston new food to help support his kidney health. She is also giving him different kinds of wet food to tempt his appetite.
It is true that Mom is trying to get me to eat more. So far, I just slurp up the gravy and leave the meat behind. I would probably try a meat and gravy milkshake if it existed!

Our Mom got this lovely fall mug from her Mum. Autumn is Mom's favourite time of year. So far, the weather is mostly summer-like.
Mom said she didn't want to hear that news from the vet. So far, though, I am romping about and getting into games of smacky paws with Emily.
We will close with this funny from Pinterest. Mom thought it was a tiny bit dark, but she still laughed.
Purrs to you all.
Go spoil your feline,
Winston and Emily
Nice to you both. I like the rug your mom bought for you too. I am glad you are still feeling good Winston. The food should help a lot. Fluids at home help too, your mom might want to ask the vet about that. XO
ReplyDeleteHi Emily and Winston. Emily, you look very comfy against Mum's knee. Winston and Mum, we are sorry about that CKD diagnosis, but are glad to hear it is just stage two at this point. We purr and pray that you will get your appetite back, and that the right food and care will help. Love and hugs.
ReplyDeleteHi you two!
ReplyDeleteEmily, your mom's knee makes a great pillow and you look so sweet cuddled up against her.
Winston: Another blogger I follow also has a cat with kidney disease, and the cat gets transdermal (rubbed into the ear) mirtazapine once every 2 or 3 days to stimulate the appetite. It comes in pill form, of course, but the ear gel seems easier. I got some to keep on hand for Derry, just in case, given recent events here. It might be something worth looking into, with a dose being given as seldom as possible to keep you eating, or perhaps a lower (half?) dose once a day.
We're sending lots of purrs to you all!
P.S. The new area rug looks great! Something to fur up! :-)
Hope that the new food will help Winston. Enjoy your cuddle with your Mummy. Our lives were turned upside down when our parents brought a new kitten home. Purrs from Patch and Flower.
ReplyDeleteWinston sending (((hugs))) to you and Mom. I think our friend Kea gave you some pawesome advice! Hoping the new food helps!
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear from you two and your Mum. Winston, you just keep eating and doing your best - you can still have many good years ahead of you. Purrs and purrayers to all of you !
ReplyDeleteNice to see you two!
ReplyDeleteIf you are comfy, then anyplace is a good napping locale, Emily.
Winston, here's hoping between your momma and the vet, you'll be right as rain for a long, long time!
I used to smash, smash, smash Raven's food with a fork to get it as mushy as possible. She didn't like anything chunky. Maybe your mom can do that with some of your food.
ReplyDeleteOh, Emily is so lovely! What a beautiful bit of coloring and a comfy lap, too. Thanks, Maggie, for coming by Marmelade Gypsy!
ReplyDeleteWish we could whip up a gravy milkshake for you, Winston! Sounds good to me (I might sample it first). Happy autumn to you, mom & Emily. ~ Tom x
ReplyDeleteEmily, you look so sweet and comfy there.
ReplyDeleteWinston, we are sorry about that diagnosis but hope the new diet will help. But you need to cooperate, sweetheart.
