Merry Christmas!
Well, the closer it gets to Christmas the faster life just seems to speed up. I want to get off for a wee bit.
Thankfully, I was able to get off the Christmas roller coaster for a bit this past week when I went to visit a friend =)
This is her Christmas tree, isn't just so cute! She has a collection of stuffed figurines from children's books. I think my favorite might be Madeline.
We had a lovely supper, opened some gifts and watched Will and Kate kiss on the balcony-sigh-I had slept through the wedding back in April!
My purry furry brat cats will be getting a catnip toy, or two, come Christmas day. I am just looking forward to having life(hopefully) slow down!
Christmas blessings to you and yours

Girls night out
Every fall for the last couple of years, my Mom and some of my sisters try to get in our girl's night out =) We rent a cabin in the middle of the country and relax.
Generally, we have a breakfast out and then do a wee bit of shopping, but once that is done, it's off to the cabin.
This year, though, I was pretty sick. I wasn't going to go at all. But go I did and my family was very sweet. I got to sit in front of the fireplace and my one sister, A, even brought me a mug of tea --sweet.
It's no fun being sick. However, it's nice when people show they care in a tangible way. =)
The cookies, spice cookies, were from our host at the cabin and the lemon ginger tea was from my sis.

vacation
I'm on vacation and had a week of visiting with friends, bed and breakfast stayover, and a girl's night out at the cabin planned. Unfortunately, something is going around and it doesn't care that I'm on holidays. I did get in my bed and breakfast before becoming a full fledged sickie, though.
I also managed to squeeze in a visit with a good friend on Monday. We went out for lunch and talked for far too long. We thought were full but managed to share a piece of pie =)
We went to a thrift store after lunch and I found some pretty amazing things: 2 cute Christmas decorations, a teapot and cup, a book, and a new cat tea towel. This was all for under $4.00.
I'm going to try and be glad that at least I can lie down all day and sleep and drink hot water with lemon juice and honey! Now I'm off to try and rest away this nasty bug.

Grace and sunshine and dewdrops

Early Morning
A beautiful morning for going to the park and taking photos. The air is cool, crisp and clean. The leaves are tinged with cinnamon and gold. It's so lovely outside in the early fall morning. After more than an hour of photographing birds, leaves and dewdrops, I finally headed for home. I made a special treat to celebrate this day--mint hot chocolate and a freshly baked croissant. =)

Hints of Autumn
I love autumn. I may be the only person in the world who likes autumn more than summer =) The cinnamon colored leaves and fresh cool air--it's an invigorating time of year. I may be forced to buy a sweater at the mall this weekend ;)
The kitty brats are another early "warning" system that the seasons are changing. I wake up in the middle of the night to discover that Winston kitty is using my foot as a pillow. He is not much of a cuddle cat--and I know he is just using us for body heat.

Oscar
Oscar kitty is 14 years old. I love this orange boy more than I love chocolate. He is a cuddle bug who likes nothing more than to be near me. He purrs me to sleep. Oscar also enjoys driving me crazy by meowing incessantly by the bathroom water faucet until I turn it on.
He is addicted to catnip and will shamelessly loll on the floor next to the toy. He is a bit shy around other people but once he feels safe with you he is a total sweetie.

Heart healing kitty
Lucy
This is our Lucy. A rescue kitty with the sweetest heart in the world. I chose her at the rescue home because she lay curled up in my arms , content, and purred. I had been going through a hard time her sweetness healed my heart =)
Lucy is a cuddle bug with an unfortunate penchant for stealing food. She is a bit on the fluffalicious side -sigh-not the mean word the vet uses!
She is also quite a huntress--watch out bugs! Lucy is the official greeter for all visitors to our home. All in all-a honey heart!

Introducing my brats =)
I have three cats: Oscar, Lucy and Winston. I will start with the youngest, Winston =) He is truly a brat! A rag doll kitty with a real knack for getting into trouble.
He makes up for it, though, with moments of intense sweetness. He likes to greet me at the door and he thanks me for feeding him with little head nudges before he starts eating. In this photo, he is contemplating my tiny Charlie Brown Christmas tree. Just don't let that innocent look fool you--the tree was on the floor soon thereafter!
